First open water trip is always something you look forward to. My first was set to be on Friday 1.4.. We met 8.30 in the morning at Tammisaari city harbor. The area had been quite dead for 2 days now after good feeding during the easter holidays. We thought that the pikes wont be mouths closed for 3 days straight. In a way we were wrong.. 1 small pike for Seppo in the morning, then after that almost 8 hours of basically no action what so ever..
After i ate my bananas and reversed the "curse" the 30 minutes feeding spike started. few attacks here and there, so we scanned the edge of the grass closely. Next what happened:
I switched to green bastard pike shad (we all were using McRubber retro pike shads up until this point) and said that now im gonna get a 8,5 kg pike on the first throw. I threw and reeled. I managed to hit the only lonely grass outside of the main grass mat. On the second i touched the grass i janked and on that same second a big pike attacked it on the surface only to miss it (maby) because of the yank i made :((. But our skippers (Timo Tuomas Narinen, on the right in the picture) shad was swimming only few meters after mine and BAAAM! the rod bent to U-shape! This was a bitter sweet moment for me. Of course I was happy that we managed to nail it, but I would have loved to catch it myself of course :). Few photos and measurements and the beauty was released back to the sea. Nice 10 h of basically non stop fishing in good company and in all the time changing weather (fog, rain, part cloudy, sunny..). Thanks Timo & Seppo! I can recommend Timos services as a fishing guide. Timo was professional and also a pleasant person :). Like on facebook and go reserve a trip now!
