I thought i was done with the season.. but as I suddenly got 1 week of from work I decided to try a guided tour to the sea for the first time. I decided to go with Mika Vornanen from Haukikoira fishing services.
The trip was set to be on sunday 22.11. We met as agreed on sunday morning 8.30 in Tammisaari Finland. We quickly set up our gear and headed to the sea. It was +0C and some minor wind from northwest, cloudy to part cloudy. The week before had been good on the area regarding fishing. Of course there are always exceptions like I was about to learn. We tried different spots and lures for almost 8 hours. Mika managed to get 4 small pikes in the boat, as I continued to fish empty.. so for me this trip ended with 0 pikes but overall experience was nice so i did not worry about it that much!
Second trip was on thursday 26.11.. Moderate rain almost whole day and 8 m/s wind from the south. We met at the same spot 8.00 in the morning. I was determined that my 0 streak would not continue! The morning was quiet although we fished some really good looking spots. We did have some attacks but managed to get none in the boat. Then suddenly I managed to get some smaller pikes (3 of them with the help of Rock´N´Roll that was playing from the loud speakers :)) in the boat and the game had opened for me also. All of them with Big McRubber Firetiger. That seemed to be the only color really working. As the day started to end and there was last chances to catch a bigger one, we suddenly both had 3 bigger "full stop" attacks. Here was the chance we had been waiting for! Do or die! With Mikas good guidance we scanned the edge of the grass and our way back.. suddenly bam! The fish was on. At first it was hard to tell if it was i big one or not. When i did not surface I was starting to get my hopes up. When we saw the side of it we knew it was an ok size fish. It was quite co-operative and Mika managed to net it for measurements and photos quite fast. This was the highlight I was so much waiting for and in the end we got it!
Fishing with Mika was nice and I got a lot of good tips from him. I can recommend Mikas services without doubt to anyone interested to go on a guided trip :).
